History
In 1939, Jacob Tenenbaum established a small comfort-footwear store called “Ateret Shoes” on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv. His vision was to improve people’s quality of life by providing them with an improved and comfortable walking experience and therefore, Jacob offered his clients top-quality hand-made shoes.
Hundreds of customers from all over the country visited the store to purchase shoes that allowed a more comfortable and pleasant movement and walking experience.
Over the years, the small shoe store has evolved and was now managed by Avi Avidor, who has later established “Avidor Foot Health Center”, which is currently managed by the third generation of the family.
Each employee and manager of the chain is a “people person”. The entire staff of the company values the ability to provide treatment and assistance to others. Such approach leads them in their daily work.
Currently, Avidor operates 16 branches across the country, specializing in custom-made shoes, comfort-shoe products from various leading brands, as well as orthopedic shoes, shoe adjustment and medical accessories.
Biomechanical walking pattern and pressure distribution tests, implemented and analyzed by Prof. Moshe Ayalon, Director of Biomechanics Laboratory at the Wingate Institute, allow our experts to recommend the most precise and accurate solution for movement improvement.
Avidor chain also operates an exclusive annual medical footwear course, held at the “Siim” Campus, Tel Aviv University. The course aims to train professionals of the future generation.

Avidor offers the most precise measuring method in the world
The Soft Premium Support (SPS) is a unique American measurement method, exclusively imported and utilized by Avidor. This method provides the most precise results possible. The Soft Premium Support method focuses on 3D foot data collection. The measurements are implemented while the person is in a supine position, which allows neutralizing the bodyweight from the feet and achieve the most accurate results. Why measurement precision is so important?
Taking accurate measurements is not as simple as it sounds, while it is the most critical aspect of orthotic manufacturing. Therefore, we constantly explore all available measurement methods and techniques to achieve the best results.
Although the initial goal of footwear manufacturing is to make a pair of two completely identical shoes, human feet have different structure. Therefore, a highly precise measurement method allows a better orthotic quality in order to meet the requirements and provide the best product possible.
Biomechanical Laboratory led by Prof. Ayalon
Biomechanical science aims to explore various mechanical features, along with the engineering principles relevant to various functions of the biological system. We don’t need orthotics to stand still – we need them for walking, running and other movement related activities. Forces exerted on our skeleton while standing are significantly different from the forces activated during movement. Therefore, our precise measuring method takes into consideration the pressure on our feet during movement, which allows designing orthotics as accurately as possible. Professor Ayalon is an expert in the field of Clinical Biomechanics.
